HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET DONNA!!!!

Please join me in wishing Happy Birthday to Donna!!!!!!

As some of you know Donna just had a birthday on Saturday, April 27th.  Her boss and the volunteers of Memorial Hospital decided to give her a surprise brunch on Friday.  It was Donna's 50th birthday so they asked everyone to bring her 50 items of something.  She got several rolls of 50 pennies, buttons, Hershey's kisses, Gumdrops, several gift cards, diet Mountain Dew (her drink of choice), etc.  What made it so good was, she was totally surprised.

Jean, her boss, asked me if I would make a memory book that everyone could write her a note.  I so enjoyed making this book.

Fortunately I had the base book I had made a while back.  I took it apart and covered the covers with DCWV LeCreme Flock Paper.  That was my base to work with.  Donna's favorite colors are black & red so that's the colors it had to be.  I used Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge to make the flowers.  They were cut using varying sizes, curved and pinched to make them 3D.  I added pearls for the centers and jeweled flourishes.  The butterflies are from Reflections from Michael's.  I ran red ribbon through the binding, tied a ribbon on each end and adhered them to the front.  I can truly say I loved making this book for my beautiful daughter.  She is so special to me.

Close up of the flowers.

Here are some of the interior pages.  When I started it I was going to put 50 flowers in it.  I think I ended up with more like 100.

Thank you for allowing me to share Donna's birthday with you today.  I wish you all could know her personally and see what a caring and loving person she is.  I am so blessed to have the two best children a Mother could ask for.  God Bless You!!!!  Peggy

DON'T BE "BUGGED" - Meljen's Designs

Hi Everyone:

This post holds some bittersweet thoughts for me.  First, this is my last post as the April Guest Designer for Meljen's.  I have always been a fan of Melissa's digis and have truly enjoyed being a part of the team for a short time.  Secondly, today just happens to be my 50th birthday with which I am having a really hard time becoming a part of the Half Century Club.  Of course, there are a lot of things that are worse than turning 50.

When I saw the digi I used for my card, I knew that I had to make something with it.  It brought back a lot of wonderful memories about my Daddy and the Volkwagon "BUG" that we used to have when I was a child.  Daddy's "bug" was pumpkin orange.  During the time that we had the car, everyone had a CB radio (yes, I really am showing my age).  Well, Daddy's handle for his car was Pumpkin I.  Our family loved that car and my Daddy always kept it clean and shiny.  The Pumpkin I came to an early death when my brother rolled the car three times on his way to pick his girlfriend.  Luckily, he had his seatbelt on and walked away from the accident.

For this card, using a pre-cut card, I covered it with royal blue cardstock.  I colored the digi with Promarkers and of course, I colored the car orange.  I cut out the digi and adhered it to orange and yellow paper.  I added a strip of patterned paper and twine.  Then topped it off with some purple flower buttons.  The sentiment was generated in Word - "Don't be "bugged"...... by another birthday!  It's only a number.  (I think I need to follow my own advice!)

I really enjoyed making this card because it brought back wonderful memories of my Daddy.  Sure do miss that man!

Thank you, Melissa and Meljen's Designs, for allowing me to use your digis for projects and to post them on your blog.  I truly enjoyed the experience.  If you are looking for some great digi stamps, I'm sure that Melissa will have something in her store that will meet your needs.

Until another day, God Bless You!  Donna

BERRY NICE TO SEE YOU! - Meljen's Digistamps

Hi Everyone!

I hope you all are having a good week.  This week is one of my favorite weeks at my job - it's National Volunteer Week.  I work with over 500 volunteers at the hospital where I work and we always have fun during this week showing our volunteers just how much we appreciate them.  Now on to my project.

I found this project on the Creations by AR website.  There are many templates on this website that are fun to make.  When I saw this little basket, I knew what Meljen's digi stamp that I wanted to use with it.  I used the "Berry Happy To See You" digi which I love.   I colored the digi with Promarkers.  I think the berry's face is so cute.

I made this basket for one of my son's teachers as a little thank you.  She loved it as much as I did.  If you are looking for a wide variety of digi stamps, Meljen's Designs is sure to have something that you will like.

Thank you for stopping by and for your comments.  Until another day, God Bless You!!  Donna

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CRAIG! Creative Cards

Hi Everyone!  It's been soooooo busy around our house the past two weeks.  I went to Baltimore for a conference leaving my husband, son, and dog here to fend for themselves.  Now if that doesn't strike fear in your heart, you're a better woman than me!!  Well, I came home on Friday to lots of hugs and thirty minutes after getting home, Jacob was running a fever of 101.5.  He came down with a stomach virus that lasted for three days - OMWOOOORRRDDD!!!!  Then on Sunday, I had to take Mom to the Emergency Room.  Yes, she has been sick too!!!  She is on the mend now, thank goodness!!!  Anyway, it was an eventful weekend!

So I said all that to say that I haven't had time to craft and today is my husband's birthday.  So I borrowed the Creative Cards cartridge from Mom and have to say, LOVE IT!!!!!!!  It made making a card so fast and so easy.  I didn't have time to try and figure out what to make the card look like and by using this cartridge all I had to do is pick the paper and push the buttons!

Using DCWV Citrus paper, I cut the card and all the elements of the card at 7".  One problem with doing that size which I found out after the card was made is you can't cut the envelope at that size.  So I guess hubby will get a card without an envelope unless I find one that the card will fit in - keep your fingers crossed.

Here is the front of the card:

and here is the inside.  I used the negatives that I had left over from the items cut for the front of the card.

If you need a cartridge that will let you cut out cards and all the elements of the card with just the touch of a finger, this is the cartridge for you.  Thank you for stopping by today - we appreciate your visits and your comments.  Until another day, God Bless You!  Donna

A LITTLE BIRDIE SAID - HAPPY BIRTHDAY! MICKEY FONT, ALPHALICIOUS

Hi Everyone!  In the blogging world, you meet a lot of amazing people.  One person that my mom and I met through our blog was a lady named, Barbara.  Now Barbara is an incredibly talented, funny, and full of life lady.  She is having her 70th birthday this month and my mom and I were asked by another blogging friend to make her a birthday card.  Barbara’s friend was trying to get 70 cards made by her blogging friends to give to Barbara.  So of course, Mom and I were more than happy to make something special for her.

I decided to make a card using the “Holiday Bird” digi by Melissa.  I’ve had this digi for a while but had never used it.  I pulled out my Cricut Design Studio files because I remembered that I had made a file using Mickey Font and Alphalicious that would cut out numbers on side of the card.  I revised the file to cut out the number 70.

I cut out the card using my Cricut Expression and covered it with patterned paper covered in “birds” and then I popped the “Holiday Bird” digi that I colored with Promarkers to the center of the card.  I tied ribbon around the card and popped the sentiment “A little birdie said” on the front.
Here is a picture of the front

And here is a picture of the inside of the card

Sweet Paradise

This is my first card using my Silhouette Cameo.  I found an svg file on the internet a while back and downloaded it.  It was called funny birds.  This parrot was part of it.  Yesterday, I spent most of the afternoon, separating the birds and making them individual files.  I liked the way this one turned out.  Very simple to make.

Card Recipe:
5X6.5" Card Base
Background paper is some that I tore out of a paper pack that I'm giving away.  Don't know how long I had it but I think it's perfect for the Parrot.
Parrot is an svg from the internet cut with my Cameo.
I added some Spare Parts flowers and a brad.  I think they came from Hobby Lobby.  I usually buy these when they have Spare Parts for 50% off.
I still have room to stamp a sentiment on the front when I decide what kind of card this will be.

This is a close up of the parrot.

Thank you for stopping by today.  Donna is in Baltimore on business.  I'll be glad when she gets back.  God Bless You All!!!! Peggy

Wishing You a Sunshiny Day! - Meljensdesigns, Sweet Tooth Boxes

Hi Everyone - let me first say that I am extremely honored to be the April Guest Designer for www.meljendesigns.com.  I have been a fan of Melissa's digis for a long time so when they asked me to be their guest, I jumped at the chance.

For my first project with Meljen's, I used the Sunflower Friends digi on my project.  I just love that little sunflower and bumble bee.  I have a friend celebrating a birthday this week so I decided I would make her a card set.

Supplies used:
Promarkers to color digi
DCWV Citrus Patterned Paper and Cardstock
Bee Wings - Diamond Stickles

I covered an A2 size card with Citrus Cardstock and then cut different shapes of pattern paper.  I then adhered the digi to the cards and then popped the center of each flower.  The box was cut at 10" using the Cricut Expression and the Sweet Tooth Boxes cartridge.

All in all, I think this makes the cutest card set.  I hope my friend likes it as much as I do.  Until another day, God bless you!!  Donna Wilson
